Frequently Asked Questions

Where do you teach?

South Florida, predominantly Miami and surrounding suburbs.

How do I learn?

The process is part of the journey.  You are asked to set aside four consecutive days, about 60-90 minutes a day, to learn.  The first day, I teach you the technique and you are asked to go home and practice and return the following day to report experiences.  Each day you return, we fine tune the practice and build on the day before.  By the end of four days, you will have a solid base for a consistent practice.

I've tried meditation before, and I just could not stop my thoughts. How is this different?

We are not stopping thoughts in meditation; we are going beyond thoughts.  There are a lot of calming apps and techniques out there, but this technique is unique in that we are taught to go beyond thought.  It is easy, effortless and frictionless. There is no concentration or controlling thoughts; in fact it is quite the opposite.

What benefits can I expect?

Increased adaptability
Increased levels of energy
Improved sleep
Faster reaction times
Reduced participation in harmful habits

Many reports also include improved medical conditions including decreases in hypertension, panic attacks, depression, anxiety and migraines.

Is VM religious?

I would say it is spiritual, because during meditation, you go beyond thought and recognize your spirit, true essence, which is pure consciousness.  You do not have to practice a specific religion to enjoy the process and experience of this meditation technique.

The technique has its origins in India and was brought over by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who modified this meditation technique for Westerners, and specifically householders*.  Just like asana was brought over from India to the West and called yoga, you can enjoy this technique in the same way you enjoy a Western yoga class.  You can practice this technique in addition to your current practices and beliefs.

*A householder is defined, in a spiritual context, as a layperson engaged in family and societal duties, balancing worldly responsibilities with spiritual growth, rather than pursuing a life of renunciation.

What is the course fee (Guru Dakshina)?

The course fee, or Guru Dakshina, is an exchange between student and teacher.  The knowledge shared during a Vedic Meditation course is living knowledge—a subtle and powerful transmission of consciousness, passed down orally from Guru to disciple for thousands of years.  It requires the open heart and readiness of the student to truly receive, absorb and embody it.

Traditionally, receiving this knowledge involved a long pilgrimage to the Himalayan mountains, where seekers would find a Guru and offer a week's worth of labor or wages in exchange for initiation into the Vedic tradition.  Today's modern-day equivalent of that is in the form of a financial contribution.

We use a sliding scale based on total household annual income, allowing students to choose an amount that is both respectful of the teaching and appropriate for their means.

No proof of income is required.  Each student selects their contribution based on personal integrity and their inner readiness to honor and receive the teaching.

Up to $90k — $900

$90K to $125K — $1,000

$125K to $175K — $1,500

$175K to $250K — $2,000

Above $250K — $2,500

The minimum course fee is $600 and is reserved for full-time students and those receiving government assistance.

Ultimately, one of the core qualifications for learning Vedic Meditation is worthy inquiry—a sincere desire to awaken and evolve. Willingness to offer a fair exchange reflects this inner readiness and helps open the heart to receive the full benefits of the practice.
